Technology Can Now Decode Patterns in Your Thoughts: An Occultist’s Guide to Protecting Your Mind

In today’s Lucid Alchemy video, Angel Millar and I explored why should Freemasonry preserve its traditions while Chaos Magic must continually challenge, reinvent and even contradict its own.
Our discussion eventually moved towards technology and a distinctly modern concern: how can we protect the sovereignty of our own minds in an age when technological systems are becoming increasingly capable of interpreting neurological signals, recognising thought-related patterns, predicting behaviour and directing human attention?
These developments may also introduce new dimensions to what occultists understand as spiritual warfare and spiritual espionage. If technology becomes capable of detecting the patterns surrounding intention, concentration and emotion, what happens when those capabilities are used to observe, influence or disrupt the mental processes involved in magical practice? Despite the seriousness of this possibility, remarkably few occultists are discussing it.
Technology does not need to decipher every private sentence inside your head to acquire power over you. If it can recognise your emotional states, anticipate your reactions, identify your preferences and repeatedly redirect your attention, it can begin to shape the very conditions under which your thoughts arise.
That is why I decided to write this guide.

It is a fact: electroencephalography and brain–computer interfaces are becoming increasingly capable of identifying particular forms of neural activity.
An EEG measures electrical potential across the scalp. Under controlled conditions, computational systems may classify certain mental states or trained intentions, but this is not equivalent to a machine remotely reading every private sentence in a person’s mind. Non-invasive EEG remains affected by noise, individual variation and limited spatial resolution.
Nevertheless, the occultist should take the direction of technological development seriously. Mental protection begins long before a machine touches the skull.
The purpose of the following method is not to promise invisibility from every future instrument. It is to produce something more valuable: a mind that belongs to its operator.
Step One: Understand What Is Actually Being Recognised
Thought-pattern recognition is not necessarily the extraction of a complete internal monologue. A system may instead recognise correlations: concentration versus relaxation, familiarity versus surprise, intended movement, emotional arousal, recurring preferences or responses to particular stimuli.
The first defence is therefore discrimination.
Before responding to a perceived technological threat, ask:
What instrument is supposedly collecting the information?
Is the person physically wearing or connected to a sensor?
What kind of data does the system actually receive?
Was the system trained specifically on that individual?
Is it recognising a broad state, predicting behaviour or genuinely decoding defined information?
What evidence distinguishes the claim from speculation?
This prevents imagination from becoming an involuntary instrument of fear. The magician must be capable of contemplating future dangers without granting them supernatural omnipotence.
Step Two: Establish the Still Point Through Liber MMM
The foundational disciplines of Liber MMM, traditionally associated with Peter J. Carroll’s Liber Null & Psychonaut, are especially relevant to mental sovereignty. These exercises should be understood as control of one’s own mind.
Begin with four disciplines:
1. Motionlessness
Sit in a stable position and remain completely still. Begin with a manageable period and work gradually towards fifteen minutes or longer.
Do not scratch every itch or immediately correct every discomfort. Observe the impulse before deciding whether action is necessary. This separates command from reflex.
2. Breathing
Allow the breath to become slow, even and deliberate. Count each complete cycle from one to ten, then begin again. If the count is lost, return to one without frustration.
The objective is not merely relaxation. It is the establishment of a rhythm chosen by the operator.
3. Not-Thinking
Attempt to remain aware without following verbal thought. Thoughts will arise; do not fight them. Notice each one, refuse to feed it and let it pass.
Mental silence does not mean unconsciousness. It is wakefulness without compulsory narration.
4. Concentration
Select one object: a sigil, geometric figure, candle flame, internal sound or imagined form. Hold attention upon it. Whenever attention wanders, return it deliberately.
A person unable to choose where attention rests can be governed through notification, provocation, advertising and emotional repetition. Concentration is therefore both a magical faculty and a defence against behavioural manipulation.
Keep a magical diary throughout the training. Record duration, interruptions, emotional conditions and progress. Do not rely upon impressions alone.
Step Three: Practise Multithoughts
Multithoughts are deliberately maintained layers of cognition. The purpose is to prevent consciousness from being reduced to a single automatic stream.
A basic Multithought exercise uses three layers:
The operative thought: what you are consciously considering.
The witness: the part of awareness observing how the thought develops.
The countercurrent: an alternative interpretation, symbolic image or opposing possibility.
For example, contemplate the word power.
Your operative thought examines what power means. The witness notices which memories, emotions and bodily sensations appear. The countercurrent asks how power might also mean restraint, invisibility, patience or refusal.
Practise for three minutes at first. Later, introduce a fourth layer through a colour, rhythm, number or visual symbol.
Multithoughts do not scientifically guarantee that an EEG system will become unable to classify neural activity. Their value is psychological and magical: they reduce rigid thinking, strengthen metacognition and make the operator less vulnerable to simplistic emotional framing.
A sophisticated mind can entertain several interpretations without surrendering prematurely to any of them.
Step Four: Encrypt the Thought
Mental encryption is a symbolic discipline.
To construct a private mental cipher:
Choose a concept you wish to protect.
Translate it into an image that does not resemble its ordinary meaning.
Associate that image with a number, scent, gesture or imagined location.
Place the resulting symbol inside a visualised chamber.
Create a specific internal gesture that opens the chamber.
Close it deliberately when the contemplation is finished.
A business plan might become a silver key submerged in green water. A personal name might be represented by a particular constellation. An intention could be compressed into a sigil and mentally stored within an imagined temple.
The image is not the secret itself. It is an interface between conscious intention and a private symbolic structure.
For stronger compartmentalisation, use separate symbolic systems for separate areas of life. Do not keep every “key” in the same physical notebook, cloud account or device. Never use occult symbolism as a replacement for secure passwords, passkeys, encrypted communication and sensible privacy settings.
Real digital secrets require real cryptography.
Step Five: Control Mental Emissions
Most people reveal their minds without any neurological apparatus. They disclose themselves through impulsive posts, predictable routines, public arguments, search behaviour and emotional reactions engineered by platforms.
Before sharing anything, apply the Three Gates:
Is it true?
Is it necessary to reveal?
Does revealing it increase or diminish my agency?
Introduce a deliberate interval between stimulus and response. When something provokes anger, excitement or fear, take three controlled breaths before touching the screen.
The pause breaks the direct circuit between external stimulus and measurable behaviour.
Silence is not emptiness. It is withheld information.
Step Six: Perform a Daily Banishing of Influence
Stand upright and regulate the breath. Imagine a point of brilliant light forming at the centre of the head. With each inhalation, allow it to become clearer. With each exhalation, imagine foreign noise leaving the body.
Declare:
My attention answers to my will.
My emotions inform me but do not command me.
My symbols remain under my authority.
What I reveal, I reveal deliberately.
What I withhold remains sealed.
Visualise a sphere around the body. Its purpose is not to create fear of the world, but to establish a boundary between observation and consent.
After the declaration, name five physical objects you can see. This returns the operation to the immediate environment and prevents the ritual from becoming an escape from reality.
Step Seven: Break Predictability Without Destroying Order
A pattern can be useful without becoming a prison. Maintain the routines that support health and achievement, but periodically vary inconsequential choices:
Change the order in which you complete minor tasks.
Read outside your usual ideological preferences.
Take a different safe route.
Delay a non-urgent response.
Examine the opposite interpretation before forming a conclusion.
Schedule periods without recommendation algorithms.
The objective is not randomness for its own sake. Constant disorder makes the mind easier to exhaust. The goal is controlled variation: the ability to change a pattern because you choose to do so.
Step Eight: Study the Technology Through Direct Observation
Refusing to understand a technology does not protect anyone from it. The serious occultist studies the instrument, its promises and its limitations.
The paradox is deliberate: if you want to understand the potential of systems designed to recognise patterns associated with focus, relaxation or emotional states, you may explore the BrainLink Pro EEG Headset for Focus, Emotion Tracking and Interactive Games.
Use such a device as an experimental mirror rather than an infallible oracle. Compare its readings across meditation, distraction, visualisation and ordinary rest. Record the results. Observe inconsistencies. Ask what is being measured, what is being inferred and what the device cannot know.
A score is not the totality of consciousness. A detected pattern is not ownership of the mind.
A 21-Minute Mental Sovereignty Practice
Perform this sequence once daily:
Two minutes — Banishing: Withdraw attention from external demands and establish the protective sphere.
Five minutes — Motionlessness: Remain physically still and observe impulses without automatically obeying them.
Four minutes — Regulated breathing: Count the breath from one to ten.
Five minutes — One-pointed concentration: Hold a chosen sigil or image in awareness.
Three minutes — Multithoughts: Maintain the operative thought, witness and countercurrent.
Two minutes — Sealing: Compress the session’s central insight into a symbol and close the visualised chamber.
Record the practice immediately afterwards. Note what distracted you, what emotional patterns appeared and whether you consciously chose your final actions.
The Final Protection
The future danger is that people may surrender their judgement because a machine appears to know them.
The sovereign mind neither worships technology nor retreats into terror of it. It studies. It tests. It establishes boundaries. It strengthens concentration and refuses compulsory disclosure.
Occult mental protection is the discipline of becoming difficult to manipulate.
The ultimate encrypted mind is internally governed: capable of silence, symbolism, scrutiny and deliberate revelation.
